The BWFC International Soccer School Football Studies Programme suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of championship side Preston North End on Wednesday.
The game played at Preston Uclan Sports Arena, Preston had several young players feature who are on the verge of first team squad inclusion. The game was watched by First Team Manager Phil Brown and his backroom staff Brian Horton and David Unsworth. Preston started with alarming pace and strength in all areas, earlier in the season the BWFCISS team had beaten them 2-1 but not today as the final score was 7-0.
Preston dominated from the first whistle and looked better in all areas technically and athletically, they kept possession very well. They put the ISS team under pressure throughout the first half and were comfortably the better side. BWFCISS always looked a threat up front and with better finishing they could have had a better platform to start the second half.
The second half was more positive all round, with better fight and spirit certainly was much improved the BWFCISS team had better balance, competing well.
Dave Bailey the ISS manager said;
"With Preston fighting for there lives in the Championship and Phil Brown watching I am sure it lifted there game. Some of those players I have no doubts will feature in Preston's fight and good luck to them. For our players it was a great experience and huge learning curve, defensively we were poor but attacking wise positive. Overall we have to say it was a bad day for us and now its a test about how we re- act"
The Football Studies Programme's next fixture is against Welling United at the BWFC Eddie Davies Academy in Lostock on Sunday at 1.45pm, good luck lads!
