During July the Bolton Wanderers Football Club International Soccer School went to two of its Canadian partner clubs in the Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada. Three coaches visited Chilliwack FC and Tsawassen FC for two weeks, the camps themselves went very well and it was actually the ISS's 3rd running with Chilliwack FC.
The heat for the first week in Chilliwack was very high with temperatures reaching 32-36 degrees, with that in mind the players coped very well. Glenn Wilson Head Coach of Chilliwack FC said;
“The players attitude was very good toward the training programme with Craig, Tom and Mason been first class they really challenged the higher level players without neglecting the others. They represented BWFC very well and are a great credit to the International Programmes”.
Craig who lead the ISS team commented on how good the facilities are and how great the kids were, the attitude from all parents and players was superb with both Chilliwack and Tsawwassen looking to bring teams over in the new year. It was the International Soccer School's first time out with Tsawassen FC even though they were over earlier this year so, it was the coaches first chance to look at the players in their own environment and the camp was again very positive with great feedback from all involved.
On a more sombre note a young boy (Blair) from Tsawwassen who came over with the team in March has had an infection from a sport injury to his Tibia which became septic as a result of that his organs began to shut down and he ended up on life support. He had renal failure resulting in two operations which lead to being in ICU for two days, what a scare! He came out of ICU a few weeks ago but is still very week and in a lot of pain but thankfully improving. While the coaches were out there Dave Bailey sent them on behalf of BWFC to visit him in hospital, they gave him a few gifts which were a big lift. All at BWFC wish him a speedy recovery and we hope to see him over here again soon or on next year’s camp…Good Luck Blair!!!
