Both staff and players had a good week of preparation ahead of the Match as it was the first target game of 2012. The BWFCISS wanted to get off to a bright start and set the intentions out for the term ahead.

The BWFCISS knew a lot about Barnsley as they have played them previously and knew that on the day they would be a strong, physical side.

Once the game settled down after a frantic start by both sides, it was the BWFCISS who looked in control. Barnsley had the majority of the possession but the shape and discipline of the BWFCISS allowed them very little in the way of a threat. When the BWFCISS regained possession they used the ball well, the movement and tempo of play was sharp and the team looked a threat.

The BWFCISS soon opened the scoring on the 13th minute with a superb through ball from Marc Puyelo which was calmly converted by Chang Choi. Unfortunately the lead didn’t last long as a sloppy individual error saw the referee give a penalty which was converted by Barnsley.

Credit to the team, they reacted positively and were soon back in front with an outstanding solo effort by Chang Choi but again Barnsley drew level through fault of the BWFCISS as a lack of pressure Midfield saw Barnsley score.

Again the squad reacted well and were soon back in front with a cool finish from Christian Cantero. On the 40th minute, Barnsley once again drew level from another individual error lead to a free kick which the BWFCISS didn’t react to and it was converted.

Half Time BWFCISS 3 Barnsley 3

The BWFCISS came back out with a great attitude and desire to take the game,  they kept the ball well and looked solid as a unit. As the game progressed the team looked stronger and stronger taking full advantage.

On the 60th minute Gabriel Nunez put the BWFCISS ahead with a superb strike from 25 yards.

The game became increasingly stretched as both sides fatigued but in the 70th minute Tom Schipano put some daylight between the sides with another 30 yard screamer.

BWFCISS killed off the game, when substitute Suraj Shah made an immediate impact. His cross took a deflection and ended up in the back of the goal.

Final Whistle BWFCISS 6 Barnsley 3

A great performance and start to 2012, well done to the whole team.

Man of the Match - Chang Choi

A tough choice as a number of players had good performances, however Chang Choi gets the vote for his superb performance and scoring 2 outstanding goals.
